yeah, ET is great :)
we are once again looking for mirror sites

JeffGerhardt: how much bandwidth do you guys go through for the archived shows?

why is that?
well, maybe not
I think the problem is not so much in picking Gnome but not providing the Libs means dependancy hell for the Users. Its bad enough without delibratley making it more difficult
it shouldn't be dep hell if it uses apt
But the KDE/Qt stuff won't be available through APT if its not in the distro at all.
which it is debian

leonscape: just point apt to some kde/qt packages
hmmm as i was wanting to read the linuxgazette, which one should i select???? .com .org or .net ?
.net
Namaseit i thought so, but ... ehhh... wtf is going on ??
.com wants .net to stop using linuxgazette name
segfault: but isn't that the point of UserLinux to make it easier? messing with background source list kinda defeats the object of the Distro
Namaseit so basicly a name quarrel?
well i think instead of choosing one, they should unit them, but eh.
yah
Namaseit cough
.com says its theirs and no one else can use it
Namaseit so ehh who are the orginal founders of linuxgazette? .com or .net?
leonscape: isn't it going to be easier for a non-linux user if they don't have to choose what desktop they want?
my grandma has no idea what the difference is between KDE and GNOME

but the point of UserLinux isn't for regular users like mom and pop, its for businesses
thats what Bruce keeps saying
Namaseit i thought its the ppl of linuxgazette.net
yah its .net

Namaseit basicly its : the papertrail says SCC is owner, but the founders disagreed and started linuxgazette.net instead

gentoo is nice but I dont like dependency checking cause it screws stuff up

after years of hitting TV-ish 'news' sites with only Real-enabled audio/video I can't think of a reason to see a return to Real as a *cough* standard.
hi all
don't believe it either... on the linux platform

JeffGerhardt: "mirrow"?
what exactly are we looking at, the helix community or the realplayer download page on the real.com site?

not convinced that installing debian on an amd64 system with a SATA drive is going to be a pleasant experience
jdub: will gnome begin catering to us pathological customizers again in the future? i kind of miss some of the tweaks i was able to do with sawfish. :)
highly unlikely
well we need more ppl to use 2.6 to test it out to get those huge hungry bugs out
linux on amd64 just isn't ready for prime time yet
you can generally use gconf-editor to change some things
is there any particualar reason to stream in one format over another (besides license agreements?)
but outrageous configuration stuff is not really of interest anymore
<-- JeffGerhardt has quit ()

didn't esr say on a show all you had to do was recompile your kernel to amd64 and you get most of the benefits doing that rather than recompile for the whole distro
nope.. meldroc it seems to require a lot of playing around :P - though..if you at least run the kernel compiled for it, that's something :)
are there any gnome ppl involved with the integrating of GTK into QT?
it's getting everything else to work
jdub: understood, and appreciated.
Namaseit: 'into'?
the scheduled january release of gentoo looks promising
let me find the link
integrating GTK into Qt?
I am opposed to integration myself, but I code little and never a GUI so I don't count
that doesn't make ense
sense
i can see maybe an emulation layer running on top of Qt
but it'd be a lot easier just to use GTK
