What sort of laptop?
they have a website up it is www.sco.com
so what is the SCO flap tonight
Jeff??
still full of shit though
in a perfect world, IBM would crush SCO to a pulp, then offer them a $1 buyout

Jeff, has the linux show made any changes in hardware or software in the last couple of weeks. I don't seem to be getting the high pitched whine that I usually get with one or two of the speakers on the show.

Ah, that explains it.
Must have been in the old hardware then.
groklaw and PJ need to read www.welovethescoinformationminister.com

It was the MODEM.
What is the point of stating this that theother is a lie, We have zillion already

Ah. well I am glad. Cause it was giving me a bit of a headache.
I already got all the sco I need at TLS
PJ will love that.

sure we might get it in the time delayed email from TLS
It is funny when I heard about the Body goards I immediatley thought about Jeffs comment last week
Oh god that was something else alright.

Pie in the face?
Gee, this story sounds familiar...
Could it be that we heard it LAST WEEK?

chris piece-of-shit
oh wait
that doesnt have the same ring to it
lol
Darl and Sontag are butt buddies and crack smokers
SCO seems to have a bad case of raving paranoia.
it's the only explanation
Eggplant: hee hee hee
The real danger to SCO executives is not from Linux/Free software supporters, but from SCO Unix professionals and business who use to deploy Unixware/openUnix. The SCO Group's actions surounding this lawsuit has KILLED that market.
raving paranoia comes from smoking crack
no
I have sold Unixware in the past
"Brain and brain! What is brain?"
that market was dead a long time ago
NZ well said
Star Trek: Spock's Brain
I would like to run the comparator by ESR against the unixware tree
yeah that was last week

Eggplant: Well spotted.
One of the guy's on the "OnComputers" show thinks the GNU License is illegal.

He's swallowed everything Darl has fed him

SCO... ridiculous... true madness... PULLING THE WOOL OVER THEIR OWN EYES!! I should pay the $30 for their Reverendships...
what a bunch of idiots
yea
sure it does
JeffGerhardt just turn up your cheek to Darl, and Darl will be jailed inside Gauntanomo Bay immediately... Don't be afraid.
well but is different, Bill gates get death threats everyday
The only death threat Darl should worry about is a heart attack when he realizes the case is won by OpenSource
but not cuz of that u start criying for it
for Darl, the world is just one big High School
Jeff is Darl hist you, you can get him in jail. simple.
in highschools these days it would be considered a very serious matter... and most of those guys/gals are of such a minde
converter: LOL
Love the cleft chin, I wonder what it cost?
i wouldnt really consider IBM opensource but yah it is a win for FOSS
heard the fear
in his voice... could hear it when he spoke
I think is all PR game
they are slandering you dude
here in Britain (without that pesky 1st amendment) they could get in a lot of trouble for thiss tuff
and the whole community
Meanwhile it's quite ok for the SCO Group to call Linux users and developers common criminals?
I just watched his eyes, oh wait you couldn't see them they were looking at the floor
I agree its a PR attempt by SCO itself.
How 'bout a head game? Order stuffed Tux dolls and have them delivered to Darl.
Its unfortunate that Darl and his group slanders the OpenSource community while they benefit from its efforts
heh... give Darl the Alan Ralsky Slashdotting....
so no Slashdot articles
... better yet .. order live penguins!
Darl wants to steal the hard work of tens of thousands of developers, and use it to line is wallet.

this idea reminds me of Al Franken's last book "Lies and the lying liars who tell them"

wouldn't it be neat if he decided to eat a bullet?

One possible ogg problem. A player that uses a buffer will get a larger amount of sound ahead using ogg than mp3.

tonyfreeman why?
Now I seem to have the show on re-run.
anyone ever downloaded the beta when it first came out? it was pretty silly
MWG That's standard I think

Dr_Aevil: Scribus?

it will rerun and streem for quite some time.
Still has hitches in the sound, goes back a few minutes.
NZheretic moi aussi as we say in Canada
<-- graywind has quit (Quit: Leaving) has anyone ran the comparator
Dr_Aevil: OpenOffice?
I'd have thought they'd work out the ogg a bit more, given all the possible mp3 legal issues.
I converted everything from mp3 to ogg on my station.
On the plus side, I would say ogg stream has improved over last several months
Now I an email once a week from people not able to hear the station.
my Archos only supports mp3... ;-(
MGALUG: I'm just looking into Scribus now
so I'm stuck with them for a while
My Archos gives me the same problem, I have to run MP3s for on-the-road use.
I tried Scribus out... pretty cool stuff
You'd think that RealPlayer or iTunes would be able to play ogg .... but they dont
<-- jeremy_lq has quit (Quit: leaving) well now you know why I wanted to talk about SCO again
I don't have any problems with the ogg stream vs mp3 stream. In fact the only problem that I have had was with the whine in the audio and that was an artifact introduced by their equipment into the audio itself.
zen player does
I think
JeffGerhardt does any of the SCO ppl or their security gards, physically assaulted you?? or is it just a mind game?
ogg, wma, mp3
indeed :)
SCO really seems to have it in for you. WHo sold them the bad drugs?
mind games
They have minds to game with? :-)
lol
JeffGerhardt well ... they seem to be pretty good at that then.
December 5 shall be interesting
yep
Well it looks like mind games and hoping that you will make some sort of mistake and give them ammunition.
mind games = lawyer games
I hope the judge drops the case
Question though, if the judge drops the case, can it be filed again in a higher court
I think they might be genuinely deluded - I mean just look at the evidence..
Tosin yep, followed by a zillion counter suits :)
Actually what we hope for is the judge to dismiss the case with prejudice.
yep
Tosin: Not if he prints out the case and drops it on Darl.
what do you mean MWG
I'm in the middle of a sizable lighting storm, I may have to shutdown soon to avoid trashing yet another UPS.
like the 1 million pages SCO dumped on IBM
tosin: Think half a ton of paper and kinetic effects.
lol
Actually if he dismisses with prefudice they can't refile. But if he dismises it without prejudice they can.
But actually the focus has changed lately... a new independant team of lawyers (non SCO related) is attacking the GPL : "Examining an attack on the GPL" http://lwn.net/Articles/59752/
http://www.businesswire.com/cgi-bin/f_headline.cgi?bw.112103/233255267
are the SCO legal submissions any better than spam in fact? :)
<-- FatherTed has quit (Remote host closed the connection) Some people just don't understand GPL, they feel its a threat, whereas they themselves can benefit from it

This is where I cam in... bye
Oh yes I have seen that one as well.
" SCO Reacts to Moglen and a MS FUD Source Confirmed. And How"
basicly that means, that the grand evil master behind the curtain, has maybe given up on SCO, and started a legal GPL attack game.

anyway.. maybe take a look on the GPL attack next week....
since they see no possible win-win, they've gotta look elsewhere for a lawsuit...
Its interesting the Darl reacts to the Moglen paper. The quicker he reacts, the more convinced of how know that he has nothing against the opensource community and more so IBM
GPL is the basis for Linux, right?
I am not sure what its going to take to convince people on the futility of attacking the GPL. Wel futile if the judge knows anything at all about the law and isn't swayed by nonsensical babblings.
or paid off
good show... and Jeff, are you really offended by mind games? just /ignore these idiots.... basicly thats the best thing to do
Think about it, if you know you are full proof, then the media commentaries wouldn't bother you, but to quickly react is a sign of weakness and vulnerability
no... he's just trying to CHA
Darl is desperate
Jeff but of course have the homework prepared, and standby when needed :)
MGALUG: no doubt is he desperate, but he probably regrets getting into this in the first place
Well, as jeff has already noted, reading Groklaw will give you plenty of ammo to use against them.
MGALUG: I bet if the judge dismisses this, the stock price will fall faster than gravity pull on any object
kinda like a cat that's been cornered... the easy way out, even if it means clawing his owners eyes out is the one he'll take
SCOX, the publicly traded lawsut
er lawsuit
i hope
just hope MS doesn't buy them and resume suit
think it's time for bed
something to sleep on...
Is UNIX something that will go into the public domain any time?
MGALUG certainly not... cause then its a fight between Microsoft and GNU/Linux/GPL directly.... Microsoft will never risk getting their necks harmed.
Hmm, MS buys Sco, continues suit, gets head handed to it on a platter when IBM win's. I would love that.
stock: yea, they don't want to do that
but who knows what Gates or Balmer will do?
Trent : Antitrust.
they are just the same as Darl
Yep
I think that if the case is thrown out early, the victory for OSS and GPL is less definitive. Or is it just as good as a full trial which rules against IBM?
antitrust... just a word...e Feds didn't do a thing to hurt MS
I meant against SCO..
Microsoft buying SCO and then attacking GNU/Linux will go against the efforts of trying to avoid Antitrust lawsuits
Gates doesn't care about those puny lawsuits...
MGALUG : Wait for the EU Competition Commission to ack.
Well to date the only place that MS seems to have had any antitrust problems has been overseas.
EU... now they've got some bawls on them
teeth too
